Introduction of Climateracy’s Open Online Course and Teacher Community
Open Online Course
The Open Online Course (OOC) has been created by the Climateracy team with the input from teachers and for teachers. The course is meant to be used as an additional resource to improve the teachers’ own knowledge about climate change and how to effectively teach about it in secondary schools. It also provides practical activities and links to external sources from different countries that can be used and adapted for one’s own classroom.
The OOC consists of 7 modules:
- Module 0 – Teaching about climate change
- Module 1 – Introduction to climate change
- Module 2 – Ecological footprint
- Module 3 – Sustainable transport
- Module 4 – Energy/efficiency
- Module 5 – Responsible consumption
- Module 6 – Sustainable food
Teacher Community
The aim of the Teacher Community (TC) is to help create a cross-border professional learning community. The TC offers a forum-like online space on the Climateracy platform which enables teachers to collaborate, share materials, ask questions, as well as seek and give advice to peers about teaching for climate literacy in classrooms. Participants of the OOC will be automatically part of the Teacher Community.
